Cookware explained · The $105 question

Still replacing your non-stick pans? Here’s why a $105 titanium pan deserves a closer look.

Seven practical reasons to rethink your next pan—from what touches your food to what replacement pans really cost.

The question is not just what a pan costs today. It is what you will keep spending tomorrow. Illustrative image.

A new pan. Great for a while. Then the sticking starts again.

You lower the heat. Use a different spatula. Try another “better” coating. Eventually, you find yourself shopping for another frying pan.

If that cycle sounds familiar, spending $105 on a pan starts to become a different conversation.

Okura takes a different approach: a real titanium cooking surface, with no synthetic non-stick coating. Here is what that changes—and why it can be worth paying more once.

The idea is simple.

Invest in the surface and construction you will cook on for years. Put the cost beside the pans you might otherwise replace.

01

No synthetic coating to keep replacing.

A familiar frustration: the finish changes, and another pan goes on the shopping list. Illustrative image.

When you buy a coated pan, you are relying on that coating for the cooking experience. Its condition can change with heat, utensils, cleaning and time.

Okura puts titanium at the food-contact surface. There is no PFAS- or PTFE-based non-stick film applied over it.

For a household choosing cookware without that coating, this is a material difference you can understand every time you cook. A coating that is not there cannot peel away.

02

Your $105 pays for more than a shiny pan.

Look beneath the finish: each metal in the construction has a different job.

The surface is only part of the story. Okura combines three materials so you can have the cooking surface you want and the heating performance your meals need.

Three metals. Three clear jobs.

01 · Titanium cooking surfaceThe layer that touches your food. No synthetic non-stick coating.
02 · Aluminum coreHelps spread heat across the pan for everyday cooking.
03 · Stainless-steel baseProvides the magnetic base needed for induction.

Construction schematic; layers are not shown to scale.

Titanium on its own is a poor heat conductor. That is why the aluminum core matters. You are investing in a layered cooking tool, not an entire pan made from solid titanium.

A $35 pan can become a $175 habit.

A lower price is easy to like at checkout. But if you replace a $35 pan every two years, you buy five pans over ten years. That is $175 spent on the same job.

Your third $35 pan already brings the total to $105. That is the price we are using for one Okura in this comparison.

What does replacing pans add up to?

A $35 pan, replaced every 2 years, compared with keeping one $105 Okura.

over 10 years

$105 ÷ 25 years = $4.20 per year.

That is what the purchase works out to if you use the pan for 25 years. A useful way to think about long-term value—not a promise of how long every pan will last.

You do not need to choose the most expensive cookware. You need to understand what you are paying for—and how often you want to pay for it.

04

The payoff happens at breakfast. And dinner.

The reason to upgrade is not just a different material. It is the food you want to make: eggs on a slow morning, a well-browned steak, vegetables that make the plate worth finishing.

Breakfast: moderate heat, a little butter, and time to release.

Dinner: build a golden crust, then finish your favorite recipe.

Okura is an uncoated cooking surface, so heat, a little oil or butter, and timing matter. Let the pan warm gently, then give food time to cook before moving it.

Customer experiences vary. Food can stick, especially while you learn the right heat and timing. Cooking photographs above are illustrative.

05

Use the tools you like. Keep cleanup simple.

A simpler end to the meal: let the pan cool, then wash with warm soapy water.

No searching for a special spatula to protect a delicate non-stick film. Okura’s cooking surface is safe for normal metal cooking utensils.

For daily cleaning, warm soapy water does the job. Soak stubborn food residue. The pan is also dishwasher safe—giving you another practical option after a busy evening.

A few things worth knowing.

Why does this guide use $105?

$105 is the purchase price used in our value examples. Available sizes and current offers can have different prices. The current offer shown above comes from the store; the product page shows your available options.

Is titanium another non-stick coating?

Okura uses a titanium food-contact surface over an aluminum core and stainless-steel base. It has no PFAS- or PTFE-based non-stick coating. The entire pan is not solid titanium.

Will eggs slide out with no oil?

Use a little oil or butter and low-to-medium heat. An uncoated titanium surface cooks differently from PTFE non-stick. Food can stick if the heat or timing is not right.

What does PFAS-free mean here?

It refers to the cooking surface, which does not use a PFAS-based non-stick coating. Choosing it does not eliminate exposure from other sources or guarantee a particular health outcome.

What does the 25-year warranty cover?

Manufacturing defects, subject to the warranty terms. Normal wear, cosmetic changes and misuse are different from manufacturing defects. The warranty does not guarantee 25 years without replacement. Read the terms.

Can I cook in it and then return it?

Standard returns are for unused items in their original condition, with original packaging and accessories, within 30 days. Contact support if your product arrives defective. Read the return policy.
